College staff draft new Standards of Practice or revisions to existing Standards of Practice with input from experts, College committees and Council. 

With Council's approval, the draft Standards of Practice are released for formal consultation (see below). Council takes all feedback into consideration before accepting and approving new or revised Standards of Practice.

• the medical faculties at the University of Alberta and University of Calgary,
• Alberta Health Services,
• Alberta Medical Association,
• other regulated health professions in Alberta,
• Canadian Medical Regulatory Authorities in other provinces and territories,
• Canadian Medical Protective Association and
• other organizations as appropriate to the topic under review.
